Closure of Public Access Too
US Government Depositories
This link reviews quite a remarkable amount of
effort being to close public access to simple notepad and wordpad programs in
US Government Depositoriescolleges, and Universities typically used by those
doing scholastic research.
Private Club? The staff emailed
me about 5-21-2003 and suggested their massive facility could not be bothered to private
minor word capabilities to visiting scholars.
San Antonio Losses
For Academic Research
The nice folks in San Antonio, Texas apparently eliminated programs such as
text pad and word pad which might be used by persons doing scholastic research
from such locations as the University of Texas; San Antonio College; Public
Library and ask visitors to use Microsoft Word and all the risks that entails. It can
only be assumed that visiting scholars will choose to do their research in other communities.

Peckerwood U? The staff took
out word processing capabilities for the public in 1997 to elminate to prevent
even nonfull time students using their library facilities.

where students frequently were hacking the main library computer systems as the staff
explained by bringing in boot discs.
